who you gonna call
1/2/17
ah man super cold week this week! but such a fun adventure!! we would call the weather deal cause there isnt any way for us to check weather and itd start with COLD WARNING haha so we would hang up the phone after that and bundle up like crazy to go out. i feel like the kid in A Christmas Story and i pretty much just pray the whole time we're out walking that i dont fall over cause theres no getting back up.
my hands are a whole lot better now! just feels like a crappy burn now but i havent had to lose any fingers. toes might be a different story. someone brought up that if your feet get wet then they can get frostbit and i thought you could only get it from being exposed to the cold so i asked them to see if i got it, cause we did like a ten mile walk in -38 Wednesday cause we couldnt use our car and my feet got wet in the first like five seconds haha, and they were like oh haha you would know if you got bit and then saw them and he was like oh shoot yeah thats bad so haha yeah apparently my feet are pretty wrecked haha. got them checked out, not much i can do now besides try to keep them warm and not be dumb again. a member found out and supplied me with a bunch of military grade socks though and theyre SO awesome! so walking everywhere feels great with those and boots. super grateful for the members and everyone here, they're seriously the sweetest people!! but yeah everything is all good i still have 20/20! oh and seriously a huge thanks for sending those handwarmers those have been lifesavers!! haha we were walking for a while and i had some in my coat pockets and we got on a bus and i took my hands out to scan my card and they were both completely black and everyone was like oh my and i thought my hands were totally done but the handwarmers just got gripped too hard so they broke and got all the black powder all over my hands. so they're all good. freaked some people out though.
we met some cool people on the bus! elder Aylworth got contacted by a temoin jehova and that was cool haha but while they were talking i talked to this guy that runs this program for people that are recovering from drug addictions and things like that and he asked if we would come and help people and share some messages with people and i was like umm yes haha we can totally do that. so we start that tomorrow and we're so stoked! i love getting to help with these kinds of things, seeing people working hard and going through so much to improve their lives and their family lives and everything. thatll be an awesome experience!
its been hard getting work done with the holidays cause everyones partying and drunk and just sets further appointments but its been fun finding new ways to get work done! working more through members and less active families and all that. theres always work that can be done i love it!!
we got asked by another person to cast out demons and thats been interesting. starting to feel like ghost busters getting called out to people wanting ghosts to leave them alone. always a strange neat experience though! just another opportunity to see how miraculous and awesome the priesthood is!
but yeah the work is so much fun. its important for it to be fun! i always thought that if it isnt hard work then youre not doing it right. but honestly if youre not working hard and enjoying it, then youre definitely not doing it right. this mission is too awesome and im so grateful to be here!! i love this gospel so much and love you all so much!!!

found a little frozen stream deal
trying to smile but the face muscles are frozen
after like thirty tries and five hundred slips we got a picture
we went to the aviation museum
walking in the cold. fun fact if your eyes are closed for more than two seconds your eyelids freeze together and are hard to open again. that was an AWESOME adventure
Hey Kid! Happy New Year! MSN news said yesterday that Canada was so cold that planes were having a hard time taking off so people were stuck, and then another article talked about this cold snap being deadly and I just had to have faith that you are being safe! I did feel like, during our facetime call, your “dad” vibes had grown even stronger than before, so hopefully thats keeping you safe and responsible haha. Things here are pretty quiet and chill, the girls are still on break and really taking advantage of the time….Reese has slept til noon most days. She is in for a shock come Monday! That Giant bag of mixed Lego Friends we got her on offerup has turned out to be a goldmine though. She made everything we had instructions for and still had tons left, so she looks for something that would identify the set and looks up the instructions and makes more and more sets! Like she found a little bunny and figured out its a magician set, where this disappearing box has a trap door so you put the bunny in, close the door, slide the trap door and it falls below and is gone when you open it back up. too funny. These are way more interactive than I remember-like they were made for playing with more than looking at. She also outgrew me, so thats everyone. Phew!
Reaghan went to the new years stake dance and said she kept getting asked to dance by juniors, and I was like, Junior what? Like my brain couldnt comprehend what she meant by junior, because for sure she didnt mean a junior in HIGH SCHOOL right??? When theyd tell her they were juniors she would be like, oh, cool, me too. well, junior high. haha.
Kennadie has been busy all break procrastinating the scholarship applications, which is hard work. haha. She actually babysat a ton and made killer money. Plus I am loving having her home, it’s nice to know that even when she goes away to BYU i’ll stlll have these Christmas breaks with my little shadow.
Dads had a crappy cold last week but fortunately the dead bodies waited until he was almost 100% over it to start popping up. So lots of overtime but he is handling it like a rockstar. Last night I was craving indian food, so we went to one that had a buffet we tried, it was so-so. But there was a little sign that said you would be charged for any unreasonable waste (like if you piled plates high and didnt eat it) but who’s to say what is reasonable waste….so I cleaned my plate out of fear more than hunger I guess. So have you gained that 15 pounds yet? Your face still looks slim in pictures, so I’m betting you havent…haha, you might be the one guy that loses weight on a canadian mission.
Have there been any days you couldnt leave the house yet? Whats the plan when that happens? Do you have some uno cards or something? haha. Anything you need? I’m excited to hear from you today, I hope you’re doing well and staying warm! Love you so much. Love, mom
hhahaha yeah its been a crazy cold week. people are saying its never been like this! it hasnt felt too bad though. today was nice and cloudy and snowing so it wasnt too bad! ah everything sounds so awesome!! except for this business with reaghan and these JUNIORS what the heck?!?! creepy. that girl. hahhaha kennadie, shes crazy. all this BYU business how does she do it. shes incredible. ah im glad people waited for dad to get better to die! theyre so sweet. im glad hes doing better though. having a cold is pretty crappy. haha yeah i dont know how much ive gained but its been a bit. now im trying to turn it all into muscle. been kinda crappy lifting weights cause it hurts but its getting better!! yeah therell be some days we cant go outside. we'll just do studies and watch church history videos and things like that. haha all these older missionaries always talked to eachother quoting these old prophets back and forth and i always wondered how they had these memorized but now ive realized in the winter time they just all watch them haha. theyre pretty good movies!
